USA Roller Sports Figure Skating
To our membership and other related parties.
Today, the USA Roller Sports Board of Directors, Staff and Advisors met in a special session to address the Covid-19 virus and how it relates to the organization’s operations. As a result of that session and much discussion, the organization has concluded that the Covid-19 virus has made a significant negative impact to the USA Roller Sports calendar of operations and because of that negative impact, USA Roller Sports has no other alternative but to be flexible and adjust accordingly.
By unanimous decision, and specific to the 2020 competitive season only, USA Roller Sports has removed the requirement of Athlete Participation and/or the qualification procedure for participation at the USA Roller Sports 2020 Indoor National Championships to be held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa later this summer.
In addition, and by unanimous decision, The Track and Road Championships for Speed Skating (commonly referenced as ODN) will be postponed until later in the season with dates and location to be determined.
Follow up details on both actions, will be available later next week via the organization’s website.
The Board of Directors, realize that these are unprecedented times and as such call for unprecedented measures. In doing so, all members of the Board of Directors, Staff and Advisors are in agreement and on stand-by ready to hold additional special sessions as needed and will come together at the formal Board of Directors meeting slated for Saturday, May 2.
For any questions or concerns related to today’s decision, please reach out to Eric Steele, Executive Director via email at ESteele@USARollerSports.org
Also, please continue to monitor the USA Roller Sports social media sites and website to receive all “official” news and updates.
Finally and in closing, USA Roller Sports President John Fearnow, wishes to express on behalf of the organization, his most sincere gratitude for your patience. The above decisions were made with the top priority of safety and well being first, followed by the most practical way to have the organization and the sports loved by everyone hopefully rebound back to normalcy. Time continues to be on our side and we look forward to the day when we skate again. Until that time, Best of Health and Stay Safe!
